How to Deposit Mexican Pesos to CacaoCash by SPEI (2026)
TL;DR
In CacaoCash, Deposit → MXN shows a CLABE in your own name (institution STP). Register it as a new contact in your bank app, beneficiary your own name, and send a SPEI, minimum 50 MXN; the dollars land within minutes, 24/7. No CacaoCash fee. From your own account up to 1,000,000 MXN per transfer; from another person only up to 15,000 MXN.
CacaoCash gives you a Mexican CLABE in your own name. Send pesos to it by SPEI from BBVA, Banorte, Santander, Nu, Mercado Pago or any other Mexican bank or fintech, and they land in your CacaoCash balance as dollars within minutes, ready to pay QR codes in Argentina or send Argentine pesos. No card fee, no DNI, no Argentine bank account.
It is a normal SPEI transfer, the kind you make every day. The first time takes a few minutes to register the CLABE; after that it is a saved contact.
How It Works
- SPEI, 24/7. Transfers arrive in minutes, any day and any hour.
- A CLABE in your name. The 18-digit CLABE is tied to your account. Your bank app identifies the institution (STP) from the number.
- Mexican pesos become dollars. Your balance is held in US dollars, converted at the rate shown in the app. Every payment in Argentina then uses the crypto dollar rate.
Before You Start
- A verified CacaoCash account (passport or national ID, a selfie, a couple of minutes).
- A Mexican bank or fintech account in your own name with SPEI enabled.
Step 1: Get Your CLABE in CacaoCash
- Open Deposit. On the Home screen, tap Deposit, then on Select currency tap MXN, Mexican Peso.

- Create the account (first time only). A short intro screen, MXN deposits, explains that CacaoCash opens a virtual account in your name that receives SPEI transfers from any Mexican bank. Tap Continue.
- Your details appear. The Deposit · MXN screen shows the Account holder (your own name) and your CLABE, each with a copy button.

Step 2: Register the CLABE in Your Bank App
- In your bank app, go to Transferir → Nueva cuenta or Agregar contacto.
- Type: CLABE. Paste the 18 digits from CacaoCash. The app should show the institution as STP.
- Beneficiary name: your own name, exactly as it appears in CacaoCash. Alias or nickname: anything, for example CacaoCash.
- Confirm with your bank's usual token or code. Some banks limit transfers to a newly added contact for the first few hours; if yours does, start with a small amount.
Step 3: Send the SPEI
- Pick the contact you just saved and enter the amount (minimum 50 MXN). Concepto: anything.
- Confirm. The dollars usually show up in CacaoCash within minutes. You get a notification and the deposit appears in Activity.
Tips
- Try 100 pesos first. Watch it land in Activity, then send the rest.
- Thursday early morning maintenance. The SPEI provider sometimes pauses for up to two hours on Thursdays from 06:00 UTC (midnight in Mexico City). A transfer sent then arrives when the window ends.
- Top up before the trip. Send the pesos the day before you fly so the dollars are ready when you land.
What You Can Do Once It Lands
Your balance is held in US dollars. From it you can scan and pay any QR code in Argentina, including Mercado Pago QRs, and send pesos to any alias, CBU or CVU for rent, a host or a friend. Every payment converts at the crypto dollar rate, which in October 2026 gives about 10% more pesos than a foreign card. See card dollar vs crypto dollar.
